Now this may seem silly to some, but i bought a 1994 (m-reg) 1.1 k-series rover metro with no MoT, no tax, & a blown head gasket off ebay blind, with no photo's & a breif description in poor english by a polish guy in north yorkshire,
the only reason i did bid, was that with 3 mins to go there were no bids & a 99p start & no reserve, so i figured i had nothing to loose!

needless to say i won for only £7.50!

So its sat on my mums driveway now for over 12 months as its not road worthy, so i cannot get it to mine, nor is there any space for it, so i have decided to scrap it!

now as i paid so little for the car & only £40 to get it transported to my mums, im not going to loose out on just scrapping the whole car, but i have read a few threads now & i'm beginning to be swayed towards an engine conversion for my second mini... i had thought about a vaux transplant, however the k-series is said to be a lot easier, & if there is anything i can salvage, then it would save me some money aswell.

My question is:
is there anything of any use or value that is worth saving for a k-series conversion???

To be honest there isn't anything on a 1.1 K-series metro that I would want to save for an engine conversion.

Your best bet might be to just stick it back on ebay for £50 and see if anyone bites.

i've already been offered £150 by the local scrap man, but cheers for the offers anyway, besides which the car is completely rotten! so wouldn't want to sell it for anything other than scrap!

As for gearbox & subframe, would they 'mate' with a 1.8vvc (obviously a few mods would be required on the frame), any idea's how much work would be involved?

as for location, im in bradford, west yorkshire (not sure what relevance that is)

& as for pic's, dont want to offend people's eye's, as it is a real eye sore! 5 door metro in post box red/rust brown, rust on every panel, 'lop-sided' as passenger rear suspesion mounts are rotten! mould on seats, & window seals

forgot to add; its a 1.1, 8v, with fuel injection (like it makes a difference)
any idea's whether the driveshafts, front disks, radiator, or electrics are worth saving?

the vvc will fit on that gearbox and subframe without mods, it does need a different flywheel though. wfm1972 from a 1600 k series

Wouldnt run a 1.8vvc on an r65 box though, would prefer the peace of mind of the pg1. I'm planning to run a metty box on a 1.6 ;)

Why not? They are perfectly ok to take anything you can throw at them.

The 1.8vvc, if its the 160 version would kill a r65 box..............hence the pg1 being mated to it.

I've got a 160 and it bends driveshafts for fun :whistling:

Thats just a 1.4 105bhp.

R65 gearbox has nice closish ratios, but the pg1 is stronger, plus im pretty sure the gearbox on the 160vvc's also had lsd's.
