If you're out and about, you'll probably see at least one Mini everyday. You can't say that about any other classic car.

An 90% of people you meet have some memory of one, even if they haven't owned one they have been in one

The one 1960's car which, IMHO, does still look quite modern is the MGB roadster. We have the MGB Owners Club shop near here and see quite a lot of them. In fact I could quite fancy one as a fun car with a modified engine, overdrive and Minilite wheels.
But, it could never take the place of the Mini in heart & mind.

When they started to make body panels out of plastic. Thats when cars lost there souls and worth in many ways but still have some attachment to us. Its weird.

People blab on about getting rid of cars and going by public transport or having these electric cars, but they dont realise it wont ever be the same or they dont realise how someones life can revolve around such a weird object as a car.

So yes the mini may look dated to other but to many other it wont and it i can always see smiles generate on people faces as they see it or pass it....

The old guy in his honda jazz remissing about the old days and ragging the hell out the mighty 998cc down some mad lane with his old girlfriend or wife now.

Just remember those small little things that make a big impact.....

The mini was my first love, and i have now fallen again! i have a front garden full of them and smile each time another owner turns up for some work to be done. All my neighbours have had one at some time in their lives and one old fella still has one! its his dogs car now but used to be his wifes who has now passed away last year. he will never sell the car and it goes in for a full makeover every year for the summer!

Definitely a timeless classic. each with their own character and individuality.

And most importantly of all, IT'S BRITISH !

Totally agree with all the comments on here, I always end up chatting to people in the supermarket car park about their minis - in what other car would you take a 20 minute detour just to enjoy yourself?

Just a personal opinion, of course, but I do think the most classic Mini of all has to be an as-original 998 Morris-Cooper with the 2-tone paint job, lovely front grill, narrow wheels and the gold brocade trim. The exterior is not spoilt by those 'ear-type' mirrors or wheel arch extensions. A real classic amongst all the classic Minis. I am so fortunate to have had one as my very first new car in June 1964 - reg. no.: CUR999B.

Yep, there a great car that puts a big smile on your face every time you drive it,

The design of the body will go on thur time

Not a huge fan of the A series engine but then again I don't really like anything that
Don't have a Chevy Bowie on it

To get the #1 spot in a list of the greatest cars of all time amongst many other classics, it must be doing something right!

The VW Beetle beats the Mini outright with the 21.5 million that were produced but they don't handle or hold the road very well!

VW Beetle 1938–2003
21,529,464 built (of which 15,444,858 in Germany, incl. 330,251 Cabriolets and approx. 3,350,000 in Brazil)

you see people pull up at the lights in a flash modern sports car no one takes much notice, you could pull up and the biggest shed of a mini the most non mint condition one and someone will always look.

So true! I have an '83 Mayfair which compared to all of the amazing Minis I see at Mini events is boring and basic (though not to me of course!). Yet when I pull up at lights the people next to me are always looking at my car and tapping the people next to them on the shoulder so they can have a look too. I see it occasionally with other cars, but never as much and with such a variety of the type/age/etc of person. Classic Minis FTW!
