I am definitely pro Royal family. I can't wait to see Harry on the throne!
Ollie, I don't understand how it can make you less proud?
God Save The Queen.

You may be waiting a while!
I'd like to see Charlie abdicate and let Wills become King, I think it would be great for the country

I think it's brilliant and it does in fact make me proud to be British.

I just don't understand why people like her. Perhaps in the 16th century when they actually did things to help to country but she is so out dated in today's society. Personally I couldn't give two about her.

The amount that gets bought in through tourism is quite high. People love souvenirs etc when they come here.

She's arguably one of the most famous monarchs in the World. Look at the excitement of the Royal Wedding all over the World.
She and the other royals get so much attention wherever they go. Look at Kate Middleton. Very popular.
Besides, if we didn't have a monarch we would have a President. I'd rather a monarch. It costs each person less than £1 a year I believe. Definitely worth it.
Plus someone else said - the pomp and ceremony. We can still do it better than anyone else in the World.
Each to their own though.

(good for skipping JLS & Cheryl

Cracking gig. Thank you soon-to-be-Sir Gary Barlow.
Bally good weekend all round, what what?
I'm no royalist, but I doff my hat to a woman who has been working for 6 decades & is still in the job aged 86.

But most of all because having The Royal family enabled this to happen for me.
My initial position (Just off Whitehall/Bridge St). I am not the one in the sailor outfit!

Where I ended up. I assure you I am underneath that arrow on the road. Well actually just to the right but still technically under the arrow.

My View from the above location. Yes, that is the back of my head.

Fantastic day and one of the many reasons I love what I do and what I am able to do/represent.

That's the whole idea though, it's the fact that it's dated and something that has managed to survive here throughout history, that makes it so different and so special, compared to what the majority of modern nations have these days. Our Monarch is purely ceremonial, there to give our country some identity and preserve our heritage. Something modern multi cultural Britain badly needs, as just about every other part of Britishness has effectively been eradicated these days, by political correctness and middle class do gooders who don't want to offend the minorities!

Besides, the Monarchy draws in millions in tourist income, from people who come here from all over the world to marvel at what we have here and to spend a shed load of their cash here at the same time. All because they just don't have anything like it in all their own dull and boring republics back home!
What's more without a Monarch, the ceremonial role of head of state would have to be filled by someone like Tony Blair or David Cameron instead....and how utterly dire would that be??

It's interesting to scan the world's press on't web on these occasions. I don't think they even noticed across "La Manche" & across the pond it mostly fills the vacuum left by Dallas, The Cobblies 'n Dysentery.
Agree about Lizzie's stamina, not buying that cover story about Phil's consorting injury
