Its worth checking the mounting flanges on exhaust and inlet manifold..they can be different heights...Inlets normally the cause problem the casting where the nut sits can be thicker than the exhaust side.
Can either use a stepped washer or file back some of the casting to make them same height

This is a problem I had (may still have)

Bit of bodgery with a washer that I cut in half to sit on the lower side so it clamped it a bit better


After a weekend of driving, it's still no better, managed to get it set back to initial setting this week, but it's blowing somewhere, will look tomorrow

And there was no gasket between the carb and the throttle linkage plate ross, which wouldnt help things.
