im rebuilding a mtero 1275 engine for my van and having now stripped it down i have found it has piston liners in it , this maybe a total dim but i mesured the bore and its 70.545mm , i was planning to bore out to 73mm to give me 1340 but this would pass the outside of the liner any ideas or info would help .

u can bore it out to 1340 well 1330 is the common bore

1275-1293-1302-1310-1330 then 1380 i believe

std+20+30+40+60 then to 73.5 for 1380

i may be wrong though

Some 1275 blocks certainly were lined when there were manufacturing problems at the factory. I believe this was around 1982. I also have one of these block and would be interested to know whether they can be overbored.

I suppose that if the manufacturing issue was with the castings then it is no-go, but if it was a boring issue (some would say this is!) then we may be okay....

just re-read the post!!!

surely if you are overboring then you could just go bigger than the liners thus it not being a problem.

liners might nave been used as a way or hiding a minor overbore possibly
