Another newbie!!

Even though my i have had a profile on here for quite some time i have never actually posted or introduced myself properly... i was subscribed many years ago because i was building my own R1 engine Z-cars mini but i never really used this forum as i had great contacts outside...

Yesterday i bought a 1983 Mini van from a fellow member (and work colleague) and have started work on it already.... but dont worry i am not going to butcher this one up and put bike engine in it...She is just tooooo nice and tidy and rust free, it would be a waste of a rare car!!

Anyway, as i have said already, the work has begun... i plan on rebuilding the engine that came with "Fin" so i have the head off and have stripped it and started to port and polish the inlet and exhaust chambers... so far so good...

looking forward to sharing tech info, learning tech stuff, and helping people wherever possible...

thanks

Hello again!

So i thought i would add a few pictures of the car and work so far:

here is "Fin": http://i1261.photobu...28/IMG_1296.jpg

as you can see from the picture the front end is very high... i have the engine out and have already sarted work on a 1275... first off i will concentrate on cleaning up, porting, re-seating the valves and CNC machining the combustion chambers on the 12g940 head...

here is the what the combustion chamber and ports look liked a couple of days ago: http://i1261.photobu...28/IMG_1306.jpg

and this is what they look like now: http://i1261.photobu...28/IMG_1307.jpg

and by wednesday they will be very similar to this: http://i1261.photobu...28/IMG_1321.jpg

i will post more pictures of my finished head work and keep this up to date as i go....

ADMINISTRATOR: SHOULD I UPDATE THIS IN A DIFFERENT AREA??
