Stage one kit is the best way to start. This generally includes new inlet and exhaust manifolds, full exhaust system and airfilter. should give you a few extra horses and a bit more torque.
Most people say go to minispares or Maniflow for a kit and expect to pay around £180 to £200 for the better kits.

hi fellow spi owner!
And may i be the first to welcome you to the forum
Well, a good place to start is to have a diagnostic carried out to check the car is running well, that way you get the most from your modifications. Check you are using the correct BPR6ES NGK spark plugs.
A good place to start is with a replacement air filter element, such as a K&N
And then maybe a Maniflow exhaust manifold and an RC40 side exit exhaust.
Roller tip rockers would be good, but the best idea would be to get a full timing kit such as those supplied by Swifttune That way you can have confidence that everything will work well together. And the SW5 camshaft is said to be very good, especially on fuel injection engines.
The next logical stage is with a modified cylinder head from somewhere like Morspeed but dont go for too high a spec as the fuel injector cannot provide enough fuel for anything about maybe a stage 4 state of tune. MiniSprocket a member of this forum is working on alternatives as we speak.
It is also worth reading this spi problems.
A "stage one" kit isnt really available for the spi engine due to the inlet maniflow being part of the injector housing, and as far as i know there arnt any upgraded items available. Kits are available that contain things such as a modified head, plugs, filter, backbox, exhaust manifold etc but i am not too sure of the quality of these kits as they tend to be supplied by places like minispares and minispeed who arent really engines builders, just mini parts suppliers.
Hope this has been of some use.
Alex.

Id start from exhaust and work backwards from there. Not from the air filter and forwards.
Im probably wrong, but surely helping waste get out more efficient needs to be priority before trying to feed the engine more?
