Hey folks hope all is well. So i bought my first mini a few months ago but only started work 2 weeks ago. So far i have stripped it back ready for rust removal. After reading through countless inspirational build threads i though i would go and got myself a civic vti, which i picked up the other day.

Wanting to keep the exterior as standard as possible so will be going the allspeed route i think.

Anyway heres a few pics to sink your teeth into. I will try and provide plenty.

I apologise for the large pictures, i may need to look into reducing the size.
Peace

Has anyone got any ideas on what to do with this sheared bolt on the rear subframe? Iam looking at a kit form minispares, but i dont think that bolt is included. Is the bolt welded in, and is there a way of replacing it?

Kind regards

Rob

you want to use that subframe again but with 5 times the original power?
A new subframe would be the best option. If you must take the difficult option the cut it flush, drill it and tap it, zap it in with a decent weld.
There is no repair section available because a new subframe is the easier option

Good point, the subbys not too bad but i see what you mean about the repair. Would need to be dead centre aswell. Will look into a (better) second hand one. Thanks charlie!

Yea my bad! have been having troubles with the welder this week so progress has been slow. Have been building a spit today, got half done will be finishing the other half tommorow. Also visited minispares yesterday and spent a little more than planned. Very helpful guys there. Anyway heres some pics of the LITTLE Progress!

Made use of an old vise!

Hey folks. SO i have not posted on here for a long time due to starting university. Progress has been reasonably slow because of this. Just thought i would share what i have done so far.

Havent got long left until my summer holiday so will hopefully be all hands on deck to get the mini finished and on the road and to get to some shows! Speaking of shows, when are they in the summer this year? :) In the mean time i will try post the small progress i do every other weekend.

Pics here

Any comments welcome.

Thanks.

Rob

You have a pigeon on your car, it also has a tag round its leg?

Sorry thats the best I can come up with at the moment!

Gonna keep my eye on this thread, im doing something very similar but with a mk1 metro, i too have a vti civic, fitted with the B18c4 engine!

Will you be using the civic loom? Or splice the civic & mini loom together? Or bespoke?

As for the rear arches, your best bet it to replace the complete arch, the metal around the rust holes may be solid now, but weld in fresh steel, and the bits that were left original wont be far behind the removed sections and rust through. So best to replace the whole things :)

Having the loom still in the vti will help, if you trace back all the honda electrics you dont need and remove the wiring, you should be left with the wiring that starts the engine/links the ecu etc (thats my theory anyways!) your vti looks in better nick than mine too, mines all mouldy inside and most panels are scratched n dented, but then it did only cost £200 snd tge engines sweet as a nut with only 60k on the clock!

Wow that's a good price. The downside to the c4 engine is the inlet though. What are you doing about that?

Im prob gonna go for an aftermarket tuning one, or see what else will fit (i think the inlet from a B16a will fit?) but ill have to investigate further

Not sure about the b16 one? There's an aftermarket one on eBay at the moment that looks decent. Does anyone know the cheapest inlet that fits the b18c4?

From what I've read the cheap manifolds realy are not worth using ur better off paying more and using a skunk or eddelbrook one
