Ha, I just had 2 months of this, had my right hand in a splint and I'm right handed.

Prepare for boredom. Lots of it. Also (illegally) obtain some series you've wanted to watch. I'm watching every single south park, then every futurama.

Borrow The Walking Dead from the internet

 That's a great way to put it

Read. I love reading. When I get in the mood for it, I can read loads. The Millennium Trilogy (Girl with the Dragon tattoo etc) is great - I cannot recommend them enough. I know it's not mini related but that's ok!

Go running? If its just one hand that's useless running should be fine. Good chance to get your fitness up. Go walking - I dont know where abouts you live but there must be some decent routes around. Cycling is out I would think. Maybe learn something like photography - not entirely cheap to start but you can get some bargain cameras on the bay. Get some basic editing software which you can get for free and see what happens. Photography will let you take decent pics of the mini as well.

It doesn't matter what you do, you will spend many hours in front of the TV. But day time TV is horrendous so as above, get some good series in. One of my favourites is NCIS but everyone likes different things so it depends what stuff you already like as to what to recommend. Burn Notice is also pretty good.

Try not to spend too much time indoors though, you will go insane. Even if it's raining get out at least once a day - just get some decent waterproof clothing, an mp3 player with decent headphones and you are sorted.

Make the most of it! There won't be too many chances the older you get to have that much free time.

I don't know what you mean... :shifty:

Walking is great, actually. Unless like me you suffer from hayfever. That's a reet bastid lately.

Yeah I know the feeling. I've been getting bad recently.

As for walking, yeah get a decent pair of shoes and some appropriate clothing and you can easily make a day of it. Take some food and plenty of fluids, a phone and a camera. Probably take some money as well. From a safety point of view might be worth leaving your planned route with someone.
