Hi!

My mini has been off road for about 5 years and is in bad shape. Since it failed it's mot back then and I subsquently getting ill, it's not been loved at all. It's now come to the time where it has to go but I have no idea of it's value. Can you help me?

I will try and list as many details as possible but if I miss something then let me know and I'll add it.

AUSTIN MINI PARK LANE 1987

Bought as my first car:
My nan paid £2000 for it and the previous owner had done it up some what with bodywork and a paint job.
I liked Mini's but I knew nothing about cars and had sadly didn't look after it very well.

Important:
Back when the car was active, about a year before it came off the road, My gaskets blew and basically eneded up with some lowlife mechanics who took out the orginal engine and put the current engine in. I knew nothing about cars so I think I was fobbed off with an engine from a scrap mini? I have no idea about what CC it is. The Mileage is 212543

The last MOT was in 2007 and it's reasons for failure was the following:

-Nearside steering rack gaiter split
- Nearside inner seatbelt anchorage is excessively corroded
- Same for offside seatbelt anchorage
- Nearside outer vehicle structure has excessive corrosion
- Same for offside
- Same for rear

nearside front tyre tread deph below requirements
- same for offside front tyre
- same for offside tyre

- nearside front subframe attatchment rubber mounting deteriorated resulting in excessive movement
- Same for offside front subframe attatchment

So the subframe is the main issue. The car turns but I believe the battery is dead. Electronics seem fine.

Again I'm rubbish with cars so if theres some more info that will help value it then please let me know and I will try and find the details.

Thanks

- Dave

No more than £500. What's the engine number? It's just behind the alternator on the top of the block.

It's an A+ 998, correct for the car even if it's not origional. Could you take a piccy of the Mini Sport bit? Sounds like it may have been a recon from them.

those arent the engine number.

under the spark plug cloest the radiator (so stood infront of car, the 4th spark plug from your left) is a ledge with a plate with numbers. thats the engine no. just above the alternator.

Thanks for the info :)

So I should ask for £500?
Not a big fan of Ebay and it's fees.

One other thing I forgot to add was I have all the keys except the door key which snapped in half in the passenger side.

That's not much of an issue , mini door locks are very cheap and easily replaced. I'd give it a shot at £500, yes.
