I've got RG 0 5PUD. So I obviously can't get it onto my car, but I wouldn't mind RMG 133, RMG 633 or even WLF 1293

Some of the prices people ask for plates are (in my eyes) too much, considering a majority of them would gave been a standard issue from the dvla. The international plates are normally the cheapest.

If you imagine the original plate JED1 before 1977 wouldn't be worth a huge amount, now you'd have to sell body parts and donate yourself to science to get it.

Paul Daniels was once offered the plate MAG1C on a Mini.........I would quite like this one as it has a very wide appeal, especially displayed on a Mini and doesn't just apply to magicians!

Quote:
"Paul doesn't claim to have a great interest in private number plates, but when he was a civil servant in local government, some 44 years ago, he had the foresight to work out the number plate combination MAG 1C. “It was quite handy working there,” he said, “I asked if it was for sale and who owned it. I even offered £1,000 for it. The answer was a definite no. They said they were not permitted to issue a number plate out of sequence.” Several years went by and when Paul had just started to make a name for himself as a magician, he was offered the plate on a Mini. He turned it down believing it couldn't possibly be genuine because he knew that the MAG series of plates had never been issued.
It wasn't until 1985 that a friend told Paul that MAG 1C was for sale again, this time on a Ferrari. “When I answered the advertisement in the Times, it was then that I discovered the plate had indeed been issued - to a Scottish Councillor, who'd had it on a Mini! I went ahead and bought the plate with the Ferrari. The previous owner told me that he was so glad I was buying the car and plate because he was pig sick of people asking if it belonged to Paul Daniels.”

MAG 1C is on a bentley now, the last time I saw it it was on a MG Midget on display in the local Austin Rover dealership (remember those!) private plates are nice, I have a couple one of which is 3 numbers and 1 letter, the shorter the better with plates IMHO :-)

I actually saw one of the plates I want which is M3 DJT on a BMW M3 convertible screaming down the M4 at about 110mph. I also want B16 DJT, A38 DJT & M15FIT.

I generally don't like plates which are meant to spell something which clearly don't say the word & require spacing. However, ones which don't need altering can be quite funny. I read somewhere that PEN "fifteen" has been withdrawn due to decency laws I think, and sadly P"one hundred & fifty-five" OFF was never issued by the DVLA. Spolisports...

Yep, the dvla do tend to spoil things somewhat.

There is a website which goes through all the unissued and withdrawn plates.
You'll be surprised how many there are.

There are a few which slip the net though, like
S11CEM (11 made to look like a u)
K15S EM (i was almost tempted @ £735 a fee years back)
