Can't afford a ZCars tube subframe so I made this while I was waiting for some CDS 38mm tube to turn up, it's made from mainly 30mm cds 2mm wall tube, I have some diagonal tubes to add to increase strength, but it's nearly done, just uses standard mini mounting points with adjustable rose jointed suspension

Cheers
David

Absolutely, but in rose jointed adjustable form, there is nothing wrong with the geometry on the mini, when it is setup right

:dontgetit: that looks interesting, good work! If you could make it so the brace bars are 'bolt-on' at the top as well as the bottom (somehow????) I reckon you could sell a few of them for a good few bob.

is there any chance of maybe a proper tech drawing being produced of this genius for others to reproduce or improve on for stuff like the afore mentioned jap engines??

nothing too fancy . if you sent me all the major dimensions i could knock one up very easily and post it on here for others. but up to you obviously.

So you think there is a market for these tubular subframes.

Does it need to be checked/certified to use it?

True nuff! But it's bound to be made to closer tolerances than the original BL ones! lol

I've used a subframe to make a jig, then I have corrected that, I expected when I bolted in another subframe into the jig to check it, it would be exactly the same but it's not. I tried 3 subframes they are all different, quite a bit different, the top towers mounts seem to be exact but the rest of it could be up to 6 or 7mm difference from frame to frame.

I will get the whole thing setup with 4 wheel laser alignment to get the whole lot spot on hence the adjustable suspension

The car will go though a normal MOT so no need for any special checks unless the insurance insists.

The frontend is fairly conventional compared to the 6 linked rear end, so if the MOT tester doesn't like the frontend for any reason he'll hate the back

Cheers
