i was asked to come up with a stainless steel plate to protect the front panel where the auxillary bonnet catch goes as this tends to scratch the paint off leading to the usual rust patch. Came up with this panel which will fix via 2 rivets or self tapping screws. Its made from polished stainless steel and is curved to follow the contour of the top of the front panel. Priced at £7.50 with free postage on the forum.

couldnt the fixings be on the other lip out of sight?

Bit difficult to drill and fix with engine/rad in position unfortunatly.

could remove the grill and drill from the outside

It may still fit with the rivits on the inside jonbetts what are the measurement difference of the top and back ?
