im sure she can afford to run buy and put petrol into it but cant afford to be insured in one of those crap heaps sounds fishy and if it isnt get the police involved and get her car ceased (duno if they can do that hah) it always astonishes me the cost of repairing mini's when involved in a crashes you tried anywhere else for quotes??

all i can say is its a dam shame and she shouldnt be on the road to begin with.... hope your able to find a resolution .

Contact your local police, it should be reported as not only were you injured but she is uninsured.

I hope you got some pictures of both cars (maybe with her at the scene) or were atleast in an area near some form of cctv.

She is uninsured and the police will need to stop her from driving uninsured, she also needs the points and fixed penalty notice she deserves and to be taught a lesson. She can tell all the sob stories she wants but in the end everyone is aware that insurance is obligatory not choice- She knew the risks and ignorance is not an excuse. You could also be helping the police with a potential driver who doesnt hold a valid license as this is quite often the reason for no insurance.

End of the day its bad enough shes done it to you but you wouldnt want it happening to anyone else as well.

The number plate should be enough for the police to act on, as they can get the details of ownership and insurance cover from it, but if you have her personal address that would be a bonus as she may be driving someone elses car (not registered at her address).

I would be very careful with this, a lot of people offer to pay cash, then when they see how big the bill is, they deny it was their fault etc.
Get a statement about what happened signed by the person, yourself and any witnesses so that she can't deny responsibility.

Jake

sound advice.
My wife got bumped a few years back. About £250 of repairs, ended up taking 2 years and a small claim in court. I think the final bill was close to 3k, luckily we won and got costs back.
The court day was funny tho, the other guy changed his story twice while giving evidence, and the magistrate told him if couldn't be taken seriously!
Get a quote, get the cash. Dont get work done until the money is in your hand. Any sign of not getting your money, make a formal claim. The same goes if it drags out more than a couple of days.

I would have thought the repairs Will be well over a grand, i cant see why she would want to pay cash, unless she has a really big exess.

My mum's focus was smashed into the side by a coach in a car park. The coach driver originally said that they would pay to have it fixed but when the bill of £1500 came along they turned round and said it was my mum's fault. Luckily as my dad had taken loads of photos and some of the hotel's staff saw it (car park was the hotel's) there was enough evidence to take them to court. My mum's insurance company got involved because she had legal cover and after a 3 year legal battle they successfully recovered all losses from the other side.

It turned out that the coach driver was over his allowed hours for the week. He was eventually banned and the coach company was fined.

Initially it put my parents and my insurance, as my mum is a named driver on the policy, up however as soon as her insurance recovered all losses from the other party my parents were sent a cheque to reimburse them for the increase in their premiums. A phone call to my insurance got me a refund of £12.50 for it as well. Don't be afraid of the increase in insurance. You may be able to get it refunded once it has been deemed her fault which shouldn't be difficult. Also think of all the money that you have put into the insurance system and have never seen a penny from. At least now you will get something for it.

If it was to go through her insurance then you should be able to specify that the car is repaired not written off but as she has no insurance then it may be a bit more difficult.

As others have said you should be able to get a dangerous driver off the road. It will be a lesson for her.

I would inform the police. All accidents are supposed to be reported anyway. I would also tell the police that she has tried to pay you off. Any information like this can be used against her if it ends up in court.

Bit of an update, got another quote of £1900 from the garage which welded/resprayed my car last month.
Im getting 1 last quote tommorrow from Bayliss vauxhall in Cheltenham, then she said she will pay on monday at the garage of choose, so will be the one which completed all the work on the mini previosuly, Vehicle solutions in cheltenham, they have done plenty of mini's previously, and can provide a courtest car etc.
Just want it all cleared up now.

Thanks for all the comments, appreciate the support.

Right then, prior to getting the third quote the woman rang me, apparently the police pulled her over, took her car and demanded she pay for full repairs to mine! She said it wasnt worth getting a third quote as she just wanted it all sorted and would pay £1900 to get it fixed at vehicle solutions cheltenham. Fingers crossed she will pay on tuesday as promised and i can drop it off to be repaired :shifty: then the police rang to ask if i was happy with what they had done, and to ring them if she doesnt pay. Good news all round, just annoying i wont have my mini for mini fest.

Looks like she got what she deserved. At least the only thing that is effecting you is the inconvience of not having your mini.....and a stiff neck :P

I did report her in the end, mainly because i was getting very concerned with the delay in payment. Turned out for the best though.

Yes neck is better now, just need the mini back. Fingers crossed for full payment tuesday so work can commence.

I would demand a hire car out of her while the mini is being repaired as well. If you need your mini to get to work (people often do) then without a car you will make a loss in earnings. Either she pays for that or for travel to work.

Screw her for every penny you can. If she drives without insurance she deserves it.

What a silly cow. Instead of just paying insurance for the car, she had an accident & inconvenienced you which cost her money & now she has been pulled over by the cops, will have been fined, points on her licence & will have a higher insurance quote because of it. I bet her boyfriend/husband is real happy with her. What a muppet!

Good for you though as you will get your car fixed & have the police to back you up if she trys to wriggle out of it.
