I would have thought that was obvious, but you were not the only one.

Cheap, largely ineffective, and a fire risk. The wires will not share current properly, as the odd milliohm of contact resistance at the terminals will make one take almost all the current.

See I'm confused by that because the Haynes wiring diagram does show 2 wires coming from the alternator B+ terminals to the solenoid.

Pretty sure mine as 2 as well

Thats 2 on top of the ignition light wire

Well, if so, they will not share current properly, for the reason I gave. That is not quite so serious for a 35 amp alternator, but 70 amps increases the risk.

I ran mine with the standard connection with no problems, I'm pretty sure the spi had a 70A alternator and the same wiring ?

i've just been out and had a look at my loom, i've got a 1976 MK3 loom, all that connects to the alternator is the standard plug we all recognise, coming out of that plug is the centre thick brown wire which goes to the solenoid, separate to the starter in my case, then one side theres a brown and yellow smaller wire that connects to the dash as the ignition warning light and the other side theres a brown and blue wire that also goes to the solenoid but it thinner than the centre brown wire.

heres hows it depicted,

what do the initials stand for i'm guessing the + represents that battery but what do the other two mean?

i recon i'm gunna use both outputs of the alternator so the standard plug i've already got and i'll make a wire to connect the post to the solenoid as well,

can't do any harm can it? someone tell me if i'm wrong please

IND is for Indicator and i was always told "s" on an alternator was for voltage sensor?? anyway both the two big spade terminals go to the solenoid

EDIT: be sure to check your wiring diagram as things may differ.
