if you do a search on the forum you'll find that some member had problems with midland wheels, it may worth a look before buying from them. I've never had anything from them so I'm just going by what I read on here...

The issue with drum-braked cars is whether the wheels will fit without the tyres hitting the damper due to the differences in width across the car between wheel mounting surfaces on drum & disc-braked cars. The drum braked cars are 1" each side narrower between wheel mounting faces. Before buying it is necessary to get the supplier to confirm that they wil fit a drum-braked car. Of course, if you then go to the much better disc brakes you'll need another full set of wheels.
I usually advise those with drum brakes to stick with the original wheels and to fit better wheels when fitting the disc brakes later on. It saves cash in the long term.

Ok, I see more sense in making the conversion to disc brakes, in the long run it will defintitely be the better option. Currently I don't have the greates brakes in the world, even though I have replaced the brake cylinders in all 4 drums, as well as the brake pads, and as it goes, there's not a whole lot of pressure, but they do work properly. I just have a query as to which kit for conversions will be the best? I looked up some kits on the mini spares website, but not too sure which one I should be looking at. I'd like a kit that would allow me to later fit 13" mags, but will still b able to run the 10" mags
until I get the 13"s. Best advice you can give me?
thanks for the heads up about the mini spares site guy!

My personal opinion, and it is a personal one, is that fitting 13" wheels is about the worst thing you can do in respect of wheels for a Mini. There are loads of disadvantages with them and few advantages. 10" or 12" are the best with 165 section width tyres. All you need is a set of 8.4" discs, a pair of callipers, a pair of drive flanges and hubs, plus a pair of drive shafts. Look on ebay for these, they do come up not infrequently and at a sensible price too.You also need a pair of rear discs with the built-in spacers (Cooper 'S', Mayfair and all late Minis have these) and longer studs in the rear hubs. You might even find someone on here with a set as many have changed to 7.5" discs for the 10" wheels.
