I've always liked the 'B' although I've never owned one. I've driven quite a few and they are long-legged with the overdrive. I particular I drove a 'GT' with an engine bored to 2000 cc and biggger carbs plus an improved cam, etc. It was very civilised to drive any distance, but, of course, no-where near as agile as a Mk.1 or 2 Cooper 'S' of the same era.

My brother-in-law restored a BGT and it's really nice. It's not perfect by any means and needs a little finishing off but it's still nice. I haven't managed to get a drive in it yet though.

Sadly my choice of cars has been a bit suspect, although there are some that I really liked. I had a '76 MGB gt that managed to get me a couple of speeding tickets. I'm not sure how as it was so slow. My Dad had an earlier model that was far quicker. I've had an Alfa Sud, quick, great to drive and ended as a pile of rust on the drive! Also a Herald, slow uncomfortable and draughty, and a Bond Equipe that was pretty much the same. A Dolomite 1850 was fantastic, as was the Ford Cortina MK2, when you could get it started in the winter. :ohno: My A35 was a hoot! I rallied one with a formula junior engine and Midget running gear and could not stop laughing! Pulling away on a paddle clutch was fun...if you like fish tailing the thing down the road! O_O I later bought my own slightly tuned A35 to relive some of the fun.

All cars with real character.
