I currently have a Nokia N8, am due for upgrade and am considering getting an iPhone. But then from what I can see the main competitors to the iPhone (the HTC One and The Samsung Galaxy S III) seem to offer better value. So is an iPhone worth the extra money, or would I just be paying out for iPhone Branding??

Any thoughts??

I have the iPhone and it's a brilliant phone but I think I'd have to say the galaxy S3 as ive never had experience with the HTC but my dad has the S2 and it's a fantastic phone and a brilliant rival to the iPhone I wouldn't be upset if I ended up with either of them.

Can't comment on the S3 but I have an S2 and love it. My last 3 phones have been samsung and they've all been great.

I'm not a fan of iphones, they're too fragile for me anyway.

S3 or Iphone its up to you, just stay away from HTC, they're shocking. Everyone i've ever known with one has hated it with a passion.

S3 is very good iphone 5 will be out soon and is also i feel a safe bet and very good but the one i do really like at the moment is the sony experia s. the wife has this and i recon it is as good if not better than my iphone 4s. better if you like pictures and music.

sony experia s gets my vote really nicely made and good to use.

iphone is always nicely made and very good

galaxy s3 feels the cheapest of the lot to me (slightly more flimsy than the other 2 above) but still a really good phone

get to the shops and have a play with all of the above.

Im currently useing my galaxy tab 7.0 as my phone hahaha

I used to have a HTC wildfire - It did the job but nothing amazing

I've used and played with the s3 for a wile and its generally a great phone

Then you have the iphone 5 coming out soon so that could be a option in this debate!

That's the thing with android, its so versatile and none of this stupid 8 pin charger like the new iPhone... its simple but so good at what it does. The internet is quicker on my nexus than on my laptop, good eh ;)

You might think about future proofing. With smart phones you end up buying lots of apps which you do not want to throw away if you change your mind later.
It is not a problem for me because I have been an Apple user for years and the Macs, iPods, iPads and iPhones all integrate perfectly. iOS is based on the MacOS. I think I would have a problem with Android as it does not have a compatible computer OS other than Linux I think, which hardly anyone uses, but everyone has their own priorities. I would not rule out a Windows phone because it also has the advantages of compatibility.
I am sure Android is very good (written by an ex-Apple employee) but I would also worry that Google is primarily an advertising company and they may want to know too much about you for targeting advertising. They are not operating as a charity. That is why it is cheaper but I would not necessarily call it good value.

iPhone 5 vs Samsung s3. No contest

Not trying to start a silly smartphone debate like what always happens, but I'd sooner spend my hard earned cash on the iPhone then any others. I've always been into technology and although I will only use Apple products now, even mates have been going from the s2/s3 and HTCs to get iPhones. Saying something....

Oh and it looks awesome, especially in black

I was an Android user for two years then got the iPhone 4S last month. Really happy with it. Was also really happy with the HTC Hero until it got water-damaged back in May/June.

One great thing about the iPhone is its resale value. If you buy an iPhone 5 and a friend buys an S3, in a year or twos time when it comes to upgrading again, who do you think will get the most money for their phone? Apple devices are always in hot demand.

I'm still getting used to iOS but happy with it so far and the whole closed ecosystem I find is a good thing. It makes apps more secure (that's why banking apps were slow to go over to Android) and seamless with the whole iTunes integration.

I used to be an Apple hater but really enjoying this phone. Haven't jailbroken it yet but may do one day.

I say to get the 4S but you do have a tough decision to make.
