My front subframe on my Cooper SPi has cracked at the front. I'm now in urgent need of a new subframe for it.

I realise that I can't use a carb mini subframe as the block is 3/4" further forward on SPi's, but can I use one from an MPi? Are they exactly the same?

Thanks. Guy.

ditto, as far as i am aware just the front rad mountings, so a swap shouldnt be a problem.

You can use a standard one and redrill the holes. And its more like 10mm

Ah right! I didnt know that, sprocket, thanks. ;D

Instead of spending half a grand, what about getting it welded back together? It's a clean, vertical split, and at a point near the tie-rod which is only about 6 cms wide, and would cost £30 rather than £500?

hmm, so maybe I overestimated a little bit! ;D But I don't have the time right now to fit it, or have the money to GET it fitted. Would a professional welder do the trick for atleast a while do you think?
