Take the b and q trade card, I have found if you show a wad of trade cards most places just give you theirs without asking. That said, I had to get a letterheaded note from work to prove who I was at the Tamworth branch but they are very strict.Idve thought that too but site defiantly says One of...

I suspect they will also have something in their system which says how man times it's used, and may start retaining them if not used. One would expect that it would be in frequent use if you are in the trade...
I can certainly say I use mine on a weekly basis, on average over a year.
Great place to by spark plugs....

Halfords I use in emergencies if I have forgotten or broken something.
But the website says I just need to take my certificates down to them and I get a card so not much trouble.

Mine only gets used a few times a year, I am very open with them - I use them on a Sunday when my usual, and cheaper, supplier is closed. They seem happy enough with thatIt's not as easy as it use to be to get a trade card at halfords, they clamped down on it a number of years ago...

hiya I use to work for them and they don't keep a record on whats brought as all trade card numbers on rely on the first couple of didgets which are usually 6336621... you can type that number in and make the rest up and it works, that's how I use to give mates discount when I was there.
Danny
edit and the staff discount one is 6336620...

Depends on ewhat you buy i have found halfords trade card cheaper on batteries wipers and tools than euro or gsf and i get a trade discount with those alsoI have always found Eurocarparts to be cheaper as they always have 50% off sales. I buy most of my tools from Machine Mart and from the internet.

I'm no qualified mechanic or anything, but after reading how others got theirs, I went down to my local Halfords and went up to the parts desk with a wad of motor factors receipts from Mini Spares, Mini Sport, Mini Speed, Camberly Auto Factors and some eBay receipts and said I would like a trade card as a keen home mechanic.
Signed a form that basically says only I will use the card and get discount on most stuff. Only thing so far I've found I can't get a discount on is an in-car charger for phones and sat navs. They're pretty cheap anyway.
It's always good to ask how much something will be at trade price and you have to be careful with items on sale. For instance, if bulbs are buy one get one free and you go to the counter with two packs of bulbs and they swipe your trade card, you could be paying more than the standard offer price.
