I bought this from a mate at work for £100, which was a pretty good buy as the scrappy had offered him £160......

It's the full-fat V8!

The plan now I've got it in the workshop is to get the bodywork sorted, recommission the engine and hopefully get it through an MOT. I can then have it as a rolling project and finish it off kerbside. The top end will feature an Edelbrock intake and carb, with a plenum of my own design.

Aesthetically it's going to be black and almost completely de-badged. I just want to keep the nose badge and the 'Rover' lettering on the boot. The rest will go. The interior will be have a custom re-trim in red leather. The door trim panels will be based on the design of those used in 1970's Civics. I'll also be deleting the antenna hole in the roof and fitting a fuse box where the radio would normally sit in the dash.

At the moment It's partially stripped awaiting the fitting of some Wadhams panels on the front N/S quarter. I'll work my way back slowly, preserving as many datum points as I can. The car's been patched and re-patched over the years so the monocoques original sills are but a distant memory. The 'replacements' will be cut out and new steel welded in. The job is made all the easier because the car is shedding them of it's own accord already, all over the workshop floor. Ne'er mind, eh? At least it'll help soak up the oil puddle from the dicky rope seal.........

Actually, there should be a progress report tomorrow!

I'm up to my arse in more nuts than a fruitcake these days, I'm trying to set up my own custom metalworking business, so I've been trying to get the workshop straightened up as well as getting my many personal projects in order. Then there was that whole debacle of getting two cars ready for the NEC........ Don't even get me started on that one.

I'll be doing some work on a mate's Civic wing but when I'm through with that I'll start cutting the rot out of the P6 and shifting the dash. It's the only par of the interior which is any good so I want to save it!

First blood has been drawn today!

I've started cleaning up the sill, but I'll need to get the dash out before I do much more. I've got the mouldering interior out except for the dash, which is actually quite spiffy so I'm not leaving it in there when I break out the plasma cutter!

The inner wing is going to be interesting. The bits that are rotten I don't need to cut down the Wadhams panel for. It'll be just as easy to fab up bits on the bench by the look of it. I'll clean it up and see.

For now, here's a pic of the end of the sill.
