I posted on here a couple of months ago a few photos of my dads 1958 Ford Anglia which looked like this:

Since it has now had the wheels banded, painted in old English white, had the bumpers taken off at the grill changed!

What do you think? :D

My dads second car was a white one of those, he rolled it!!! My grandad having was a Panama yellow Popular which was traded for a MK1 Cortina.

Has that one got a side valve or OHV engine? I'm guessing it's got a 105E 1200 engine.

That looks really super. Well done. The wheels look right as alloys might look out-of-place.
Has the suspension been stiffened at all? IIRC the thing to do was to up-rate the springs and fit stiffer struts/dampers front & rear.
Now all you need is a Cortina GT 1500 engine, 2000E gearbox and higher FDR! All period modifications, but maybe fit Cortina disc brakes first!

Looks good.

Do you think my 59 model would be better on banded rims?

Yep that's a side valve all right. I like the twin carbs and 4 branch manifold, nice period tuning bits.

This one gets raced in the Pre-65 HSCC Touring Car series. Next time I see it I'll get some under bonnet shots.

I've a soft spot for the 100E as I passed my driving test in one.
They had vacuum operated wipers which stopped when the throttle was pushed right down.
The gear ratios in the 3-speed gearbox were not ideal as 1st & 2nd were low, whilst top was high. You could get a 4-speed gearbox which fitted and improved things.
The 1960 100E with the 997 105E engine & 4-speed box was very good. Of course, the 1500 Cortina GT engine went straight into that model.
With improved suspension they went very well too.

My dad tells me about the vacuum powered wipers so when you went to overtake they just stop :D
I did notice that the 3 speed gearbox is very interesting
