I used my wipers for the first time recently, and within the first 50 strokes, the passenger's side wiper arm and blade came off! It was quite a sight, as it litterally worked itself off the wiper stub on the car, and it slid down the bonnet and under the car.
I managed to get out and retreive it, but for the life of me, I can't get it to fit back on. Are the left/right side wipers different somehow? The car was recently repainted, and I wondered how the hell a wiper arm can be such a pain to have stay on.
So for the moment, I only have a wiper for the driver's side of the windshield.
Has this happened to anyone else? Should I buy a new wiper arm??

When fitting have you got the wiper open at 90 degrees to allow it to push on

I have seen this before. Sometimes you can do some delicate adjustment to the locking clip, it it has not broken, to help the problem, but basically you will need a new arm very soon. You can get those in Halfords, although the style may not match, which is ok for most people as they are usually changed in pairs.

thanks gents. I'm going to walk out to the car right now and try the 90 degree fitment. Sounds like I'm out to buy a new arm in the short term though.

Either that or if you want too bodge it for a wee while, just wrap a little tape on the splined wiper drive, and then push the arm on over that. Ive found that some 'new' arms can still fit very loose so usually do this anyway to secure them.

so, it looks like the arm is trash. If anyone knows where I can get a pair of the hook type black wiper arms, I would be interested in purchasing. It seems that they are out of stock at all the normal mini suppliers
