ive just got a 1981 austin mini hl i was wondering if anyone can tell me if it would have came with rear seatbelts and speakers fitted ?
also any other details ? Im aware of the clubman clocks and wheel trims also metro door furniture anything else would be a great help

No, at that time rear belts were not standard, and I am fairly certain that speakers were not either.

The speakers in the rear parcel shelf aren't standard.

Me and 2 of my mates all ended up with HL's as our first cars (many moons ago ), Mine was black, and my mates had a white and a primrose yellow one.
def no rear seat blets or rear speakers.
They did come with opening rear 1/4's, reverse lights, mine had black clubman stlye bumpers and black grill but chrome handles and twin coach lines just under the windows. interior wise, mine had brown carpets and brown hounds tooth (I think) reclining seats (but no headrests).

Anything else, ask away and I'll rack my memory for ya

This is standard as it left the dealers (most extra's added as the buyer was a Austin employee)

thanks for the information mine has got the clubman style bumbers
the seatbelts and rear speakers are now gone everything else is standard

mines mace brown anyone no anything about the colour ? dont seem to see many this colour

I can't picture mace brown, fancy sticking a pick or 2 up?

Never realised that they did that colour after the 70's. Looks pretty solid (bar the inner arch, did it have arch liners?).

one website said they only made it in 1981 to 1982, thats not my car i just found it on google will get some pics of mine when it comes back from welding

HL (and then HLE's) were only made for a couple of years max (replaced in 82 or 3 with the mayfair) so are a rare model. I've only ever seen them on a W or a X plate

i think they only made them from 1981 till 1982 mines on a W

all the welding is now finished so should be home next week

Mine was a W plate too. Good news on the welding being finsihed soon :)
