As a general rule, sealing O rings anywhere are NEVER used with sealant, but a lubricant compatible with what they are being used for is ok, or grease to hold them in place during assembly. If adhesive or a sticky gasket compound if sealant is used, they may well fail to seal, as it may prevent them moving about freely as the joint is tightened. The advice given above is generally correct in tha regard, but I thought I should mention that the same considerations will apply to any other O ring that you come across, anywhere.

I too have always been puzzled as to why the O ring abuts the gasket, which is not ideal, but if it is designed that way it is best left alone. You could of course machine the groove a bit wider and fit a thicker O ring, to allow the gasket to be cut away, but it would be a complex machining operation. If you do that, the width of the groove should be 82% of the free width of the O ring, as should be the depth of the groove plus gasket thickness, so the O ring is compressed to 82% in both directions.

Ok after more cranking it seems that the oil is being emptied out of oil filter but not refiling into filter.. Next job remove filter see if there is a blockage that end ..

There is much debate and argument over what is "good" oil pressure. However, getting to 75 PSI with cold oil and only using the starter motor sounds great to me.

Once the engine has started, run for a while and come to temperature you can see what the idle oil pressure is. Once you know the hot idle pressure be sure to post back with your findings.

You never guess what I found today when looking though very old copies of mini world mags ..just sorting out old ones .. I found a section on engine assembling...and they wait for it cut the hole bigger around the o ring gasket . Whhhaa blow me..

Don't believe all that you read in the monthly comics, as much of it is pure garbage.

Agreed, it is funny, like any bad joke! Last time I looked at one of the comics, I found about 5 or 6 glaringly obvious and important errors, without looking very deeply. I don't know what kind of technically incompetent idiots they employ as journalists these days....
