Bought a smiths rev counter a couple of year ago and finally got it converted to work on my electric ignition, wired it all up and nothing not even the slightest bit of movement, checked and rechecked the wiring even tried wiring is straight to battery for power and earth and another wire going to negative side of coil and still nothing. Then yesterday i had a flat battery enough to turn engine but not start volt meter said i have 10volts but the interesting bit is the rev counter started to do stuff, any suggestions what it could be as it works on a flat battery but not on a full battery when engine is running.
Thanks Alex

Remove the tach, charge the battery.

Was the conversion done professionally? If so, go back to the vendor and explain what happened and ask that they check the gauge.
