Right. I bought a Mini Cooper SPi 93 reg for £1900 really good condition to learn to drive in. Then ambitions moved to rallying.
Have I got the wrong car for this.
I want a carbed race engine in there.
I'll have to replace the wiring loom, fuel tank ect. If I can't prove the new engines age I may not pass the emmisions at MOT time.
Do you think it would worth me just selling the car I have, buying a cheaper and older one and going from there?
Or should i stick with what I have?
Desicions. Really not sure what to do.

Depends how serious you want to get, and what type of racing. Some types of racing you'll end up stripping everything out and replacing some parts (fuel cell, seat belts, etc) anyway so it won't really matter what mini you start with.
The Spi is what the Mighty Mini race series use I believe.

Club rallys mainly.
I want a 1380 in there, with stage 3 head, sc/cr gearbox to give you a quick idea.
So one says to sell and start again.

Have a look at that.
Am I right in saying that buy using a kit such as that I wouldn't actually have to repalce the wiring loom?

That kit'll certainly do it, though it is an expensive way of doing the conversion. I am guessing (though not certain) that the relay is used to control the fuel pump. The pressure regulator is not a problem, you can buy suitable ones from most places (filterkings etc). I personally would make the kit myself using a carb of my choice, a pressure regulator and a fuel pump relay, if that'd work?????
Basically, what I am saying is that is the kit to use, though it can be done a hell of a lot cheaper

Cheers buddy.
Theres no way I'm paying that much anyway.
I thought that for the conversion I would have to replace the whole wiring loom. Looks like I'm all clear for that.
So I'm going to keep the car.
