I did mine over at Wiltshire College, went from there to Formula 3, just finished 2 season and have now landed a job in Historical Aston Martins!

You can go anywhere without the need for university :D

I did various Colleges and then a BEng I would recommend Uni for the life experience and it opens up your opportunities later in life.
Its not for everyone but if you get the chance. ;-)

I do believe that an occasional Mini has been dry sumped. The gears only need a light mist of oil, ideally sprayed through appropriately positioned nozzles, so it would be very surprising if it had never been done. Don't know much about the Bini. Not sure how that will help, but maybe someone here will remember who did it and when.
