I'd go for BMC green for the engine. Probably 'should' be black at that age, but I think green would 'lift' it a bit more in the black engine bay.
Or if you wanted a change from standard - how about a mid metallic grey?
PS....I have one of the rocker covers available if anyone wants one

I'm thinking the BMC green as well. Classy and retro colour. The SA made engines at the time were a pinkish-red colour to denote a local product. I don't think that would look right in here though. I like the sound of that grey - understated and clean.
If I could afford a second one, I'd take it
