Thank's to everyone who has taken time to post. This was my first venture into mini restoration so I bought a car that was sound - good shell and engine but needing a tidy up and general refurb of suspension, brakes etc. I guess it was a floor pan and respray away from being worth quite a bit. I've just got my insurance payout which covered what I paid initially but not what I spent or what it was worth.

Because I've just done a little at a time I didn't keep a record - no photos either. Learnt my lesson so will keep much better records in future. At least I've got the money to start again.

Out of interest has anyone in the West Midlands had any response from the police? Just wondering if mini owners are being kept updated. Do we need to organise a more coordinated approach? I would like to think the police are taking this seriously but my own experience was very poor. Be interested to hear from anyone who had a better experience when dealing with the police.

Thanks again for posting.

Reading all the various stolen threads it seems the police are doing jack *******.

They did an article for their website telling mini owners to be more careful - all the usual mumbo jumbo.

I'm going up the station later to report my break in and see if they know any more in my area.

Karma comes round and hopefully all these thieves get there sack chopped off and stitched to their face. Scum.

i keep a look out around tamworth. a few more minis poping up here but nothing stolen. i do try and advertise the club and know most of the people in tamworth, but all seems lagit.

i still cant believe my mk1 has not gone yet. and we have had a gang of youths going round the area for a month now.
just trashing the place. i think i have my ratted mini in such a state that no0one would even think twice about nicking it let alone drive it. :)
i seem to have a result here.
if i have just cursed myself then im ready. tracked and CCTV on hand. as well as the exhaust hanging down to scrape the ground so i can see where its been moved to.

Such a shame how people can be sick enough to steal a car makes me so angry!, why would someone be so selfish to take away someone's joy for a bit of cash! Hope you manage to find it or the c**t that took it!
