Just came across this:
http://www.minispare...c/van.aspx|Back to search

Do you have pictures of saloon Minis with that kind of front panel?

And would it be still possible to bolt a normal chrome grille over it?

I'd like my Mini to have different style options like different grilles and wheels.

Thanks

Just, wow!

Looks that I would need the Mk1 bonnet though

Can I still bolt a Mk3+ grill over it?

The bonnets are the same it's just a mk3 has a lip spot welded to the front to hold the chrome trim. Drill or grind the spot welds take off the lip clean up the area and paint and that's it mk3 to mk1 bonnet done

The grey one looks like the grille is just bolted on a normal front panel, you can see the two nuts holding it.

I'm definatly going for that look!

Keep posting pics if you have some!

Correct just use some bonnet pins or such like.

There are two ways to go about it. The easier way is the panel you have posted the link too attached to your front panel with pins. The other is buying the pressed van panel which is around £160+ and welding it onto your car. I know this as I have to get one for my van project :( damn expensive!

Why can't you weld the grille panel on a normal front panel? That's what I want to do.

Good point. Maybe I can screw a normal grille over it?

Not easy to figure out when you're at the office, without the parts in front of you

And to think that people used to fit saloon grilles to vans in the 1970s! How fashions change....
