My first Mini was a very old and decrepit van, not worth restoring in those days. I wish I had somewhere to store it for 40 years, as it would now be valuable! I seem to remember snipping out one of the grille slats to make distributor maintenence possible.

Hi,

I recently bought a mini sidewalk as my first car and have been interested in fitting a van grille to it instead of the standard grille.

I was just wondering, what is the fit like? Is there a gap between the grille and the front end or is it the same fit as the standard grille?

(I plan on using grille buttons to fit instead of welding)

Thanks,

That's the best one out there, it looks removable too from the inside? Time to browse your project thread

Cheers :gimme:. Yep removable, I welded some brackets the grille with bolts on and drilled the front panel, nut's on the back and then some rc car body clips through the bolts to stop the nuts coming all the way off if they do undo. It's a bit fiddly to do now I've moved the engine forward 10mm to compensate the HIF44 carb >_<

Just 2 bolts each side, did think about one in the middle but doesn't need it.

I've got the van grille on my saloon, just got a knob on each side for quick release.

Much easier to get into the front end quickly and looks slick if you can get it to follow the shape of the front well. As we all know nothing on a mini is straight lol
