mini cooper 2001 classic mini

Car run's great then when the radiator fan kicks in the side lights head lighs spot light have a small glow to them and when the fan gose off so dose the glow.

Every thing eles is working.

Only fault i found is that the fuse for the fuel pump via the cut off switch on the bulk head has a hint of melting to it.

Any clues please.

Cheers

Check where the wires run for the radiator fan switch.

The switch is behind the grill, lower front of the radiator.

I assume the wiring is running up and under the slam panel then upto the bulkhead. The headlight wiring also runs under the slam panel.

I would put a bet on that the fault is in the slam panel area somewhere, maybe a grill screw as broken through the insulation on the wiring behind and thus is shorting the connections and leading to the fault.

The headlight wiring also runs under the slam panel.

The mpi doesn't use the same loom as earlier models
Sounds like another earthing issue

nah Mpi has a multi plug, that pokes through the inner wings for each headlight
The earth point is on the bulk head for the headlights and the fan, there are 6 spade connections in one multi plug

Thank's for the reply's

Cleaned earth points, checked as much of the loom as possible for damage and try'd another battery.

Did notice tonight when it was dark that there was like a flash very intermtitant? from the behind the fuel gauge a blue one?

Cheers
