I am shopping around for a floor panel and have found that Minispares do a bare floor pan. At this stage in my build I think I could get away with this later type pan. Has anyone used one and what are your opinions??

You mean this one?: http://www.minispare...|Back to search

It 'aint cheap! (with good reason). .I want to use this for my 1100. However I am worried about keeping the shell straight and whilst changing such a large structural chunk.
Im assuming I'll have to wait till the shell is fully stripped, on a spit and well braced before doing this!

that's the one. you don't have to do that much bracing, it can just be a bit fiddly getting a floor lined up.

it's also worth doing it on a spit with the car upside down.

Its alright going for the one with outer sills welded on but I have other stuff to do before the sills go on. I could buy all the other panels and make it up cheaper than the whole floor from Minispares.

Funny that they use the same part numbers as Minispares and are about the same price by the time the VAT is added.

trust me, the first floor i did i thought the same thing, have done three more since then and i wouldn't even bother putting one together myself, it's just not worth the hassle.

ANON,

Have you got any pics of you fiiting these floor panels?

We are going this route on ours (with outer sills etc), and would be great for some advice/pics from someone who actually has experience.

Thanks alot, Mike

don't think i've got any pics sorry but feel free to give me a shout for any advice.

as long as you go about it logically/step by step it's quite an easy job to do.

I recently did a full floor replacement for Ben from Carbon Weezel. Clicky

It's the first one I've done on my own (bar help lifting it in and out) and it was far simpler than I was expecting. The most time consuming pat was drilling out all of spot welds holding the original floor in, just make sure you've got loads of clamps at the ready.

i just got a complete one from somerford minis, genuine heritage. with heal board, cross member, outer and inner sills etc. cost me £535 for the panel and it fits like a bloody glove... i mean absolutely perfect fit and i would definitely advise you to get one if your willing to cut out a little more for the better finish.

How I see it is that the price of the floor pan, cross member, heelboard, jacking points, sills and any other bits on the full floor panel doesn't add up to £535
