Zcars Front Subframe - Do I Remove Original Steering Rack Bracket

as the titlee says do i need to remove the original steering rack bracket to fit the new subframe?.

I think it depends on the version of subframe, however as a guess I would say yes you do have to remove the original steering rack from its current position and then re-attach it to the Zcars subframe. I am only going by personal experience as on my car the steering rack is attached to the subframe.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know if there is a substantial handling improvement in attaching the steering rack to the subframe? I have an earlier type front subframe where the rack is bolted to the shell.

Hi Pete, I wouldn't have said that there was a substantial improvement, it does drop the rack down a few mm, that some might argue improves the bump steer but IMO its too smaller amount to really mean anything.

Our current front subframe (the ones with rack mountings on them) do need the original mounting removing
