Has anyone tried to do A shorting break mini?

Hi guys and girls.

not a regular poster or anything on here so be nice!....

im a big fan of the shorting break and would love to do the build my self, but a little nervous about doing so...

Has anyone attempted the build? Either buying the kit from france or trying to do it them selves?

I'm not interested in the radford style conversions so if you could leave that stuff out that would be appreciated.

I just want any info of someone taking on their own shorting break...

and for those of you who are not familiar with it, here it is.....

Looks like a nice idea, but you loose an awful lot of structural integrity when you cut up the back like that, the parcel shelf, rear seat, back panel and boot floor all make a strong rear structure, when you cut that out you would have to put it back in or have a very nasty time when someone goes into the back of you,

and its Shooting brake not shorting break :)

Im pretty sure it's shorting break mate....

I'll build in the strength and integrity removed dont you worry! That's not my issue. I just want to know about the chopping and cutting of the back panel etc. and ease of fitting the bought in kit or own fabrications. Thanks

i'd say some heavy duty bracing of the c pillars is needed, not just to make up for lack of rear bulkhead but to also support the rear doors, maybe tie it in with some bracing accross the roof from each c pillar hidden under the headlining and then from c pillars to b pillar hidden inside the rear quarters behind the cards, bit like the cabriolet

oh and bungle and the iva police will be here soon

No, its to do with the French using the word break for mpv/estate cars with back doors like that, and short being a mini. So it translates something like short estate i believe

Ahh I see

I was relating it to shooting break as a style of estate and then assumed the french are a whacky lot and called it the french version of that

I stand corrected :P

Look's like it's under the carpet, as you can see the filler hole and neck in the first pic.

I think a serious VOSA check is needed

What if that were let on the road?

How on earth would it pass an MOT?

Hahaha, well the structural integrity is highly lost here

Very dangerous to other road users!
