Thats right no warranty. Although he told me it had only done 400 miles after a rebuild, then blew the engine during a race ! My son will be selling the car in February so I am trying to keep the costs to a minimum for him.

400 miles on a transmission which has been used in competition is a lifetime and a half.... especially when at grass roots motor sport everything is done down to a small budget, and I know that the tranny is the last thing to get money spent on and has been thrashed within an inch of its life.

Where's the best place to go for new parts or even a complete overhaul kit, without paying the earth ?

The cost of a rebuild kit is totally dependant upon the parts which it comprises of...
I can honestly say that the kits I supply are by no means the cheapest, in fact possibly one of the most expensive, however, I believe them to be probably the most comprehensive in terms of parts you will need and also the highest quality of parts including all branded bearings, many upgraded items which have been proven in both road and competition applications, plus many items which are not supplied in the more general kits.
Examples of A+ rebuild kits....
http://www.minisport...nfo_MS4017.html - £170.26 + vat , I don't think there is a cheaper rebuild kit on the market
http://www.minispare...oxes/MSG23.aspx - £215.02 + vat, this is equivalent to the kit which I originally used to build retail gearboxes almost 8 years ago. As a basic kit it includes all necessary parts for a transmission overhaul without anything fancy, but quality parts.
http://www.guess-wor...play.htm?id=112 - £250 + vat, yes it's not cheap, but neither are the parts.

Thanks for that Guess-Works. My son will be selling the car in February, so I need to balance cost against the short term running time, at the same time not wanting to pass on any problems.
