hi, my mini starts up fine and will sit idling but it seems like it is on the edge of cutting out and i give it a little rev to make sure it doesnt. is it just a case of it running a bit lean maybe? it has been sitting since mid september when i bought it and was off the road a year prior to that. any help would be appreciated, cheers

Try increasing your idle speed.
Has it got a carb?

mine started doing that today after i fitted a new filter in the air box. i had an air leak so it leaned it off a tad so could be that. could also just need speeding up? put a colour tune in to see, wont do any harm.

Yeah, just a screw. On the SU HS4 it's just a little Philips screw on the front-right as you look at it. Next to one of three flat-head screws that hold the dashpot (cover of the carb) down.
With the engine running, turn the screw clockwise IIRC to turn the idle speed up. You'll be able to tell when the idle is getting fast as it sounds like you're putting your foot down on the throttle.
I had to do this yesterday after getting my car back from a garage. I'll probably turn my idle down at the weekend. It's currently on about 2k RPM.
