Hello there .
I am restoring my classic mini and have just installed a role cage . I have now decided with the extra weight i will need extra power so im am considering taking the VTEC route .
Going to use an allspeed subframe and want to use a b16a2 engine .
I haave been offerd a b16a2 engine from a 1999 civic , Its come with the gearbox and loom ecu ect.
It also is a OBD2B . Will this make things tricky when wiring it up because of the imobiliser ?
Can anyone give me more detail on this ?
cheers
Eddy

Hello,
Sounds like a good plan, always nice to see another honda transplant. As for the loom it all depends on what you want to do, buy a kit or build your own. i'm not clued up on the OBD variants however I didnt have a clue about mine (OBD1 1998) and i striped and rebuilt my loom and just recently started the engine with it and trust me if i can do it then anyone can.
Heres a few links:

the next link is from a current build thread done by MrThumb. If your check out post 110 on that thread then thats were most of this info plus more came from

Hope this helps, if you do the research then you'll get the rewards

Have you considered using an odb1 to obd2 jumper harness to run an obd1 ECU without immobilzer? These jumper harmesses usually go for about 60-80USD and will allow you to run your obd2 setup on a much more user friendly obd1 computer.
I have just picked up a 1999 civic wiring harness for my vtec swap and will be using a jumper as well. Honda-tech.com is a great place for engine swap info. Good luck with yours! :)
