basically i spent 40 minutes this morning trying to defrost my car whilst my brother came along and was ready to go in 5 minutes because the heater in his car is actually productive, so i was just wondering if any of you have found a better way of keeping your car warm and get the best out of your heater, whether it is an external heater plugged in or what. i need help i can not deal with defrosting my car for 30 mins every morning as it is my every day car, so any suggestions?

If you have a garage or somewhere under cover it's amazing how much difference it makes. Alternatively a sheet over the windscreen can save you having to scrape that.

My current routine is:
1) Start the car, and turn the rear screen heater on
2) Scrape the side windows, back first
3) Scrape the front windscreen, if necessary

Normally this means there's a bit of heat in the car by the time I start moving.

Not much but I hope this helps :-)

Was going to say, the standard Mini heater is very warm! Mine is toasty in winter, perhaps too toasty!

Get a car cover or top screen window cover. It will never compete with a modern system

The heater, when in decent working order is generally quite good. It's the ventilation system that's usually rubbish.

Am incorporating an MGF system into the Midas to sort this.

I flushed, stripped, cleaned and changed the sealings on mine after following a couple of guides on here.

Sounds like I may have to do that too - mine's warm, but not roasting. I normally have it on full blast for most of my commute by which time it's warm, but only after about 45 mins do is get really warm.

Until the engines warm there's no point turning the heater on because effectively your just adding another radiator with the cooling fan turned on lol
Taking longer For the mini to warm up

Its not running through the radiator until the engine is warmed up, and thermostat opens anyway
