This is looking good! Your certainly a do-er!

My parents have a big garage too, but its full of rubbish, it woould be the ideal environment to work on my mini except for the central divider that makes one part an office. >:dozing:

Day Seven

Still not at my best after the week end and again didnt get as much as i wanted done. Got stuck in traffic coming back from chester where i picked up some spot weld puches.

The powder coaters let me down as well, he's had the subs for a week and done nothing, he said they will be ready tomorrow. I NEED THE FRONT ONE TO BUILD THE FRONT BACK UP AGAIN, dam it!!!!

Any way, worked on the boot today, got the hinge panel and battery box fitted, but the floor panel is a total different shape, GGGRRRR, so that will need fettling. Early start tomorrow to catch up.

Oh and the right hand sill turned up today, the left, the manged to send out with the other panels, everything to complete the job.

Day Eight

Spent most of the day welding up the holes I blew in the boot floor and grinding it down:blush: GRRR:evil: No good this 0.8mm wire, going to try the 0.6mm that i should have started with:frown:

Also took ages fettling the non genuine boot floor panel to get it to fit. Any one who says that the non genuine are just as good as the genuine, is having a laugh:angry:

Well I collected the sub frames today, Hurrah:happy:

Finished the boot floor
Posted Image

Removed the rotten scuttle closer and made a new one and welded it in
Posted Image

Trial fitted the front end. Its surprising how the genuine panels still need a little beating to get then to line up, but no where near as bad as the bloody non genuine boot floor was:evil:

Day Nine

Half day again as was waiting on delivery of a sofa:ohwell: Picked up o roll of 0.6mm wire and set to the task of fiximg the toeboard. Cleaned up the winscreen aperature while i had the wire brush on the whizzer.

Finish of the toeboard and floor panel tomorrow along with the nearside shock mount.

The offending sub mount/ toe board. The outside.

And from the inside

Wow!! For some reason I've only just found this project page! Awesome progress mate, really impressed. This is what I've been wanting to do on mine this summer, as soon as I've got the time off and bit of money together. You weren't joking when you told me 'its coming apart soon' when I saw you a few months back!!

Looking forward to getting stuck into mine shortly. Looks like its got mostly similar bits to yours to sort (should get away without new front end though - just front end respray). Spose ours are the same year, but mine lives outside :D(

Can't wait to see it finished!!

Craig.

Well if you are going to do it, do it soon as mate. Dont let the rot take hold any more than it has and, if you think there is none, then take it from me, you will be surprised to find loads of it. The way i look at it is if you are too scared to take a screw driver and poke at panels with it with the possability of holes apearing then there is rust there anyway, better to find it than ignore it.

Also you will find almost every bit of rubber, what ever it is, perrished or worn out, I have replaced the lot and that in itself is not cheap.

Deffo worth doing it, though, i am getting tired of the dirty working atmosphere. Things will pick up next week when i start to get the paint laid on and then start rebuilding it

The front sub is rebuilt, rear sub is being assembled, everything is cleaned and painted appart from the front hub assemblies still to be done. Waiting on parts from Minispares to finish rear sub assembly.

Engine parts are back from the machinists with other parts again waiting on from Minispares. Gearbox to strip and rebuild.

All in all I'll be happy when the paint is on the car, as its assembly from there on in

And yes I am knackered, but it need sto be done, if i left it for long periods it would never get done.

Again a bit behind. Its been a nice week end and did you realy think i was going to be stuck in the garage all that time??

So any way, got the sills finnished, drilled and trimmed the front wings for the sports pack arches, drilled and trial fitted the lamp bar and drilled and mounted the grill. Again trial fitted the front sub as well.

Oh and a nicely repaired door too :w00t:

A little more things to drill and trial fit next friday then its tidy up the inside, the underside and stone chip ready for the prep and paint on Sunday/Monday.

Cant post many pics as theres summit up with my web space, I filled it with picture hosting a couple weeks back. LOL
