Hello. Good evening to all.

I am going to paint my engine and I have chosen this colour, but I don't know the name or anything about it. The colour is this. I would appreciate any information.
Thanks and Merry Christmas from Spain. ;D

It is not British Leyland but It is probably BMC green. All Longbridge built A series engines were painted this colour up until about 1970 after British Leyland influence it was changed to black. Moss sell it in spray or brush and they can ship to Europe. 500ml brush should be enough for one Mini power unit.

There was another about this recently, one poster said he had found it labelled land rover green.

See my previous post - the history is factual ( I was there!). The moss paint is the nearest to the original green.

will fish it out when i get to dads at the end of the month, one empty tin is from his friend who used to build the MGC engines in the factory in the 60's and when he used to rebuild his own he would just take stuff from the stock :shifty:

one tin= Posted Image

same tin and label but different age=

The MG engines look great. The colour of the first one on the garage floor is nearest to the factory colour. They were different to the A series ones. The MG C engines were a lighter green. The A series were darker, like stealth05's. 1960 BMC MG A and B engines were a maroon red colour.

yes the second one is the closest we can get which some people back then called it a silver green. I might be wrong but it may be due to the bmc running to the late 60's I think 1968 which was then it turnt to british Leyland as why the early minis would of been painted in bmc green till 68?

BL was formed in 1968, but took a couple of years for their influence to be felt. The Clubman.....the use of the BL badge, etc. I really like the BMC green but it seems wrong to use on a mini after 1970. Equally I like the black (prefer satin not gloss) and hate the yellow (998 A+) for standard ish minis. Otherwise personal choice, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Some under bonnets could be entered for the Turner prize.
