Vets Bills, And A Cyst On My Cat.......

over the next few days she still seemed exactly the same, and i thought the lump was going down, my original thought was that my other cat hat swiped her and it was maybe just infected.
anyway last night (tuesday night) i decided enough was enough and she had to go to the vets. so off we went this mornign at 9, and they checked her out. turns out its a cyst, they shaved her, lanced it and drained it. she obviously wasnt that keen on any of this though.
upon getting ready to leave the vets, i was told to keep the incision they made from healing to allow the horrid gunk to be able to get out, and to bring her back on friday. this is assuming i could keep the wound open to vent, if i couldnt i needed to take her back the following day. i kept an eye on it today and all looked well, until i went out for a couple of hours, when i returned the wound was healed totally, i tried to carefully open it again, but the poor cat was making such a fuss i couldntr bring myself to mess too much, so looks like im going back tomorrow morning to get it opened up again, and quite possibly will be doing the same on friday again.
it was £68 today for the consultation, lancing the cyst, her injection (antibiotics) and some medication to sneek into her food when she isnt looking.
tomorrow is going to be at least another £35 for a consultation, and again on friday. merry christmas eh! never mind, i would do anything to keep my two kittys healthy, but the timing is a little poor, the inconsiderate critter! lol
has anyone else had a cyst to deal with on a pet? share your vets bills with me so i dont feel like im the only one getting stung.

Tomorrow (Thursday) we have got to take Henry our 2 year old Siamese away from the Isle of Man all the way to Edinburg University so he can have basically a life saving op which they cannot do over here. He is having muscle spasms near his bladder which has lead to his urethra closing and now he can't pee. Thus has to have a catheter in at the mo otherwise it's going to back up and kill him.
The flights are going to cost us £690 because of the short notice plus an overnighter and then I've got to go back another time to pick him up (hopefully). The insurance (thank god we have it for the vets bills) won't cover the flights, but you know what I really couldn't give a *#$% at the mo, I just want the little b@stard back home causing havoc! His brother Oscar is properly howling and going mad because he doesn't know where his bro is and misses him.
The things you do for your pets eh!!??

A decent vet should charge you a reduced rate for repeat/ follow up consultations to treat the same complaint, not a full consultation fee. Our vet charges £35 for an initial consultation but all subsequent follow up appointments are only £15.
Our dog has a rare gum disease only found in cats (oh and just our dog apparently!!). We actually had to get a referral to a vetinary college to get the problem diagnosed as it's unheard of in dogs (don't ask how much that cost!). So the awkward mutt is on daily steroid medication for the rest of it's life, which has to be doubled in the summer months. She also has to have regular double courses of antibiotics and a regular dental clean & polish to stop the problem from getting worse. Obviously you can't get a dog to just sit in a dentists chair and "open wide", so a dental involves the dog being put to sleep for it to be done, meaning that costs about £500 a time.

Heads up on abscess/cysts..they usually pop and sort themselves out unless its an older cat/dog, but as long as they're eating and well in themselves you dont usually have to worry
Having said that our ole lab went off his food recently <<<shock horror a labrador that wouldnt eat>>> after a few days of this I took him to the vets where he had blood tests for kidney function, colitus, liver function and I presume bubonic plague, leprosy, turnip disease and an Alien check done by Sygourney Weaver herself!
All came back ok and he started eating again
£550 vet bill for what turned out to be wind

Sorry just spoken to the enemy (vetrenery nurse) and she looked like I'd been putting car parts in the dishwasher again! The joys of marrying a smart Alec woman.
I'd do anything to save my 2 cats and dog from being ill
