I'm a Pet Health Advisor at a veterinary clinic, consult fees are only £24 here :)
Did they start off with an FNA? generally cysts don't cause issues as they are encapsulated but abscesses are a different story, if they manage to get into the bone then you can pretty much say bye bye pet.

For the cyst to be fully removed then it will need to be done under General Anesthetic as it will require a scrape out and flush then stitch up.. at least another 120 id say.
Cysts can be maintained with regular "squeezes" depending on how quickly they fill up. If it doesn't cause any issues to little kitty then they can be left (so long as you know its encapsulated and not infected).

Sounds like they will give you more antibiotics and may even suggest putting a drain in.. do you have any photos at all?

our cat Archie had crystals in his bladder and that turned out to be a £500 bill. he was in pain one day and we knew something was wrong as he is the fussiest friendliest cat ever on earth. he even bit the girlfriend when she went to put him into the basket. they operated on him and when we picked him up he was purring like mad when he saw us. he will purr as soon as you look at him. we feed him pro plan light now as he is a very large cat 7.7kg but need to get him down to around 6kg.

i either tight or unloving, i would of said bye bye cat and got a new free moggie

If you aren't prepared to look after an animal why have it in the first place? As euthanasia is expensive what would do to save that cash I wonder? Some people shouldn't be allowed to keep animals IMHO.

I'm absolutely gutted!!

Henry didn't make it past Wednesday night at the vets over here! We even got all the flights and hotel sorted for going away but unfortunately we never got a chance to get to Edinburg with him as he went downhill too rapidly Wednesday night.

As most other decent people have said, they'd do anything for their pets!

Our maine coon lookalike cat was thin for his size but we thought it was the way he was. OHHHHH NNOOOO just before we moved into our new house and while staying at my mum's he decided to make really weird miaowing noises not eating etc and then started spotting blood so what gives.

Well the following morning just as i was going to work he was flat out on the floor with blood pouring out of him and i mean pouring. Not good. My missus tries to contact the 24hr vet but no joys, rushes to the vet and hammers on the door, again no joy (really funny 24hr vets this one.)

2 long bloody hours later he was rushed in (when they opened) and drip installed. x rayed etc. The news was grim and he was given a 10% chance of surviving. like carlos's cat he had crystals in his blood so my missus was beside herself. We saw him over the weekend while in intensive care. Drip installed, bits shaved and a tube shoved up his bits but purring like mad when he saw us. Again told it really was touch and go and if he survived we would have to squeeze his bladder daily to relieve him O_O O_O O_O On the fourth day the tube was pulled and he wee'd :D :D well that was 10 months ago now he is nearly 17lbs in weight and fit as any normal cat could be. Total bill £700 and a stupid bill for food monthly as he is on a special diet.

We have three cats (mum sister and son) would not be without them but ye gods vet bills are scary. Worse than going to the VW garage for a service. O_O O_O

to follow up on our cat, she is now doing just fine, and is completely as normal again, although she does have a shaved back end.

however, having taken her back on friday morning. i popped out to do some shopping and later that evening my younger cat came in squealing in agony. luckily i keep thye cat box in the spare room and he goes in the box to play and sleep. i threw it on the bed and he got in, i rushed to the vets and they gave him an injection for the pain and had a good look over him. i was told to take him home and see how he was, then bring him back in the morning.

an hour later he was still clearly in pain so we rushed him to the emergency/out of hours department. they took him in over night and gave him more pain killers. this morning we were called to be told he wasnt much better and were asked to pop up. he seemed fine and we gave him lots of fuss and kisses. the plan was to x-ray him later and do some blood tests.

due to interruptions with emergencies today he still hasnt been x-ray'd but we have been assured he will be done this evening. again we popped up to see him and he looked great, purring, rolling about, really fussy. and he has now had a wee which they had been worried about. they also said they are much happier with him now and we were too i can tell you!

its going to have cost me over £650 for the two by the time we get our little one back, but i just dont care. as long as he is ok its worth every penny. its also worth mentioning that we are very happy with the care that has been given to him too and the way we have been allowed to call for more info and go to visit him. i am a real animal lover, but how anyone can be a vet i dont know, it would break my heart every day to try to do what they do.

oh and to conclude, no one knows what happened to him, we dont think he was hit by a car. as he only has 3 legs, i think its pretty likely he lost his balance and fell from somehwere and landed badly.
