I'm having a question day!
Is it possible to recover chrome alloys and do you know anyone that does it please?
I moved to a house last winter that didn't have a garage and the frosts and road grit made Verns alloys die a quick death.
Now I've got a garage I want to check if I can restore them at all,
Thanks for your time,
Flakey chrome is definitely not a good image!

I'm in Lincoln
Thanks for your help!
Still can't decide whether to go chrome again or for some less flakey paint! But I'll have a wade through them links thanks!
I guess my brother power-hosing them didn't help either
Cheers,
Bec

if it was plated right in the first place, the powerhosing them shouldnt make any difference.
Not a fan of chrome wheels myself, so i'd get 'em stripped and powdercoated, but thats your call!

I was a fan until they went bleugh, I'm thinking of making them chelsea redish or sparkly black, just something a bit different. Stripping it is, erm the wheels like!

I'd go white on the badges you're repainting anyway, and white wheels! If you do 'em red, what about matching the red you have on the union jack on the roof?

My long term plan is to restore my mini to his former original chelsea glory so I thought I'd match them to that instead of to how he is now.
They might look a bit odd for a while if I make them red but they've gotta look better than the tatty little wheels he has now. I bought them from Midland wheel supplies and thought they were good for the money until they flaked *doh*.

The Pikey guide won't be very thick! try a Dan or Mini sprocket one!

Hmmmn, personally I'd buy Guessworks Guide (having said that I haven't actually bought one of those) which is readily available (I think)!
Have those wheels been chromed on top of paint? It sounds stupid but it looks like they may have. Are they still under warranty (I doubt it from MWS)?
Try Mini Chrome and Components, back when they were called Evans A Series they said they could chrome anything for you and they do good quality work too. Or call John Cooper Garages in Worthing and ask them who does theirs as they frequently fitted chrome alloys to Minis when they still dealt with real Minis.

While I think, wasnt there a guy on here offering some "TMF discount" on chroming a couple of months ago? (an "older" guy who does a load of different chrome mini bits....) I'll have to have a search! May even have been MC&C.
EDIT: Found the thread I was thinking of! Can't see discount mentioned though. Going senile. Doh!
