toying with the idea of fitting one of these into my '87 mini project (they just look a bit nicer than the older style!) some questions I hope you guys can help me with as i've got no experience of injections minis at all!
can it even be done without changing the steering column?
were these only produced in black? (ideally i'm after a cream one)
what modifications will i need to do to fit one? it looks like the ignition barrel is in a different spot, is it the same barrel on a bracket or a different barrel/loom?
and finally, has anyone got a spare one?

Charlie t - are you saying you converted an MPi column to mate with an older loom? If so do you have details of how you did it? I have a spare MPi column sitting in in the garage and am think of doing that conversion so any advice/tips would be appreciated.

Yes I did, I cut plugs from an old steering column and figured the wiring arrangement so it just plugs into it. The old light switch wiring needs to be pulled out and joined in as they are on the stalks on the mpi. You could wire it using the switch but I didn't want 2 light switches
