They have the 20 degree float bowl angle for the MGA and I know the Mini variation used a 30 degree angle.
I know they can be modified with some difficulty, but is it possible to run them as they are on the mini ?
As in running the 20 degree float bowls. Would this cause any problems ?
Thanks

I heard that one side was very difficult to find and expensive. Also I can't find any at the moment.you can pick float bowls up on ebay quite cheap.
Is it possible to run the 20 degree bowls without issue ?

i've done it and sold a set to a guy in belgium the other week that he was going to run on a mini. would be worth getting the float bowl extenders though.
to be honest i'd say about 90% of twins fitted to and sold as mini ones aren't running correct angled bowls/manifolds

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for the correct bowls. What are the main drawbacks of not using the correct angled float bowls ? The car isn't for competition so I should be OK I hope.

Perhaps getting a manifold made to suit could be an option? I would imagine that as ANON has said, if you get some bowl extensions, this may help the problem, as they would allow more fuel in the bowls and may compensate for the change in level due to the wrong angle...
give it a go, you've bought em, so nothing to loose...

if you're not in a rush i've got a few boxes of carbs due in the new year , can see what comes with them as well.
off the top of my head you can still get one side new but it's around 60, could be worth ringing andrew turner and seeing if he's got any, he's pretty helpful.

Thanks, that would be great. I don't really want to spend £60 on 1 bowl though. The carbs were only £64 :) I'm in no rush as the engine is going to be a slow build whilst I'm at uni. The carbs are my second semester project. I can always make an angled spacer in the machine shop at uni if you can't find any .will check through my spares for you and see if i've got any, have definitely got some h bowls but not checked what they are off yet.

if you've got access to machinery re drill the main bolt hole on the arm and re face the top and bottom, easier than messing around with spacers.

I bet you would :) I think I will keep them for now. Times have changed and a pound wont even buy a coke nowi'll give you £65 for them, save you loads of hassle and you get a whole pound, you must be able to buy about ten pints in the student union bar for a quid

I like the idea of refacing the main bolt hole, but is there enough removable material to give the extra 10 degrees ?
