I have got some Ultralite (Minilite lookalike) wheels which are currently silver. I would like to change the colour of the spokes/centres to black leaving a silver rim. What would be the best way of doing this? Powdercoating or painting? If painting, what type of paint should be used? Which colouring process would have been used on the wheels originally? Thanks for any help.

You can paint them yourself, but many people will say to you, its gonna cost you this much to do it you may as well buy new ones.

To be honest it may be worth your while just buying new ones and selling your current ones.

But too answer your question, Powder coating in my opinion, lasts longer and looks better.

Send them off to be powder coated professionally and explain what you wan't done :)

I have anthracite ones that I'm just gonna replace, with new Ultralites.

I can put tyres on myself so at £230 a set and sell my current ones for £120. You can see my logic, when you work out the cost of a wheel refurb is £60 quid a corner. £240 for all 4.

£55.37 inc vat each

My local guy charges £60 to refurbish each wheel so I will refurb mine myself and maybe buy a set of these if I get bored with the standard silver wheels.

I think it is probably easiest for me to get new wheels and sell the ones I have. Thanks for the advice.
