Need some help;

My Mini 35 LE would've come with a Catalytic Convertor originally.

Now, being a carburettor car, would it pass an MOT with out one? What catalytic convertor should it have, I'm not sure if it used the same one as a SPI.

I would've thought it would pass an MOT without a Catalytic Convertor because its a carb car, the majority don't have them.

The 35 had weird additions as it was the last car before the SPi.

They also quoted it as having a stylish interior? LOL.

I dont see any reason why it shouldnt pass. If youve got it running right it shouldnt fail on the emissions and 9/10 garages only do new cars and when faced with old cars are clueless so wouldnt know if it was ment to have a cat or not.

Well thats good, thanks :)

I can't believe it wouldn't pass to be honest, once its set up correctly on a RR should be fine.

Mine passed without a cat, the garage did add that my car had one when new, but it's only the CO2 levels that they test. Getting the mixture set up correctly on the carb (like previously mentioned), is the key.

Ours did as we bought it brand new in '94. From 1993 onwards (I believe) all cars sold in the UK had to have a cat, whether they did anything or not is another question.

i can agree with you as i have a 35 and we got told of the mot place we take ours that it needed the cat also this new mot legislation means that a car originally fitted with a cat needs it for an mot regardless of emissions :lol: i know what you mean about the weird stuff its like they just flung it together with stuff they were making for a spi but used carb stuff aswel haha charcoal canisters and that haha

I've got a 35 too, no cat and its passed the last 3 mot's ok. And plus 1 on the weird mixture of parts. I used to always come back with spares that didn't fit.

I read a while back that they just took bits from the Last few sprites and the left over bits from the R.S.P's to bodge a 1000.

Dizzy is an R.S.P part and the engine is a Sprite carb one iirc.
