if you are getting it galvanised just give it to whoever is doing it, they will be able to get it back to bare metal for you, blasting is great on the bits you can see, but useless on the bits you can't see ;-)

I just painted my replacement subby with 2 coats of POR15, then 3 coats of black Hammerite. Made sure I put plenty in all the nooks and crannies and coated all the insides of the cavities/box sections with Waxoyl. That's one subby that isn't going to be rusting anytime soon :D It's now all reassembled and back on the car. This photo was taken a few months ago

dont leave it too late. this was mine (broke whilst driving!) cant find the pic :( mega rusty. i would say just replace the subframe with a new genuine one! i thought that galv the subframe may cause it to distort?

I used a similar method above, lots of stonechip, few costs of hammerite, some underseal, and finally each year i spray with waxoyl into all the nooks!

Stil undecided as to what to do yet, currently getting engine sorted 1st. Will sort subframe in a month or so
